MIZORAM
Mizoram with its smoky blue mountains and evergreen hills carpeted with bamboo jungles is the southernmost of the North Eastern states. The Mizos have a unique and vibrant cultural heritage which they have maintained and rejuvenated through the Young Mizo Associations which are found in almost every village. This wealth of tradition is reflected in Mizoram's rich variety of indigenous costumes, crafts, folk songs and dances associated with the many agricultural festivals celebrated with great gusto and pageantry. While Mizoram is deeply connected to to its ancient past, it also looks firmly towards the future and is a state distinguished by high levels of literacy and gender equality.
